A five-minute reset for your to-do list
Practise turning a muddled list into one manageable next step. Use the made-up example first, then decide whether the approach helps you.
You do not need a perfect question to start. In this activity, you will give an AI app a messy, fictional list and ask it to help you choose one small thing to do.
Copy the request below into an AI app you already use. There is no need to buy a subscription for this exercise. If you cannot use an app right now, try sorting the example yourself on paper.
Look at the first step it suggests. Could Alex actually finish it in the time available? Has it noticed that the garden centre is about to close? A tidy-looking plan can still miss the detail that matters.
If the answer is too much, reply: “That is still too much for fifteen minutes. Give me just the first action, and tell me what can wait.” You can ask for a shorter or more practical answer.
Once you have tried the example, decide whether this would help with your own day. Use ordinary, non-sensitive tasks and leave out names, addresses and private work details. You choose the priorities; the AI can only work with what you tell it.
Finished? Pick one action from the plan that you could take now. If it still feels too big, ask for a smaller first step.
A fictional request to try
Copy this into an AI app you choose. Check the answer before you use it.
What to check
Does the plan respect the fifteen-minute limit and the garden centre’s closing time? Does it keep next week’s present separate from today’s urgent task? Change any suggestion that would not work in real life.
