Cookies and storage
What this browser remembers
You can use the lessons without saving anything for a later visit. If you want to come back to your writing, you can choose saved learning.

Choose what is saved
Saved learning is off until you choose it. You can turn it on from a lesson or open the settings here. The same settings are always linked in the footer as Cookies and storage settings.
You can close the settings without changing anything.
The controls cover this website’s browser storage. There are no advertising or analytics switches because the site does not load those trackers.
A small record of your choice
If you make a choice, the browser stores a small preference record called one-eye-storage-preferences-v1. It records whether you want saved learning, when you chose, and the version of the setting. It does not contain your writing, email address or a visitor identifier.
This record is needed to respect your storage choice. It is valid for 180 days. After that, saved learning will not be read or updated until you choose again. Existing writing is left in place so that expiry does not destroy work you might want to recover.
These records use local storage, a browser feature that keeps information on this device. Unlike a cookie, a local storage record is not automatically attached to every web request.
Your optional saved learning
If you enable it, this browser stores written answers, practice progress and the lesson version they belong to. The One useful thing challenge uses one-eye-learning-progress-v1. The earlier message-writing practice uses oeoai:consumer:tricky-message:practice:v1.
It stays in this browser. It is not a cloud backup, is not available on another device and is not sent to an AI service. Someone else using this browser may be able to see it. Avoid saving sensitive or confidential information, particularly on a shared device.
Saving is a separate choice from newsletter signup and business enquiries. It does not create an account. If an earlier saved note exists, choosing saved learning can restore it. A changed lesson does not silently replace the note for its earlier version.
Turning saving off and clearing work
The settings explain when an action will remove saved writing before you take it. Turning off and clearing saved learning stops future saving and removes the two learning records from this browser. Your current writing can remain on the page so you can copy it or keep practising without saving.
The browser keeps the minimal preference record so it can remember that saving is off. Closing the settings, or leaving saving off on a first visit, does not silently erase older work.
If the browser blocks storage, the site may be unable to save or clear it. The controls will say so. You can use your browser’s site-data settings to remove saved information for this website. Clearing all site data also removes the preference record, and you may need to choose again next time.
Emails, hosting and other websites
Normal web requests are still needed to load the site. Hosting and security can involve technical request data; see the privacy notice for the services involved.
Newsletter emails, Beehiiv pages and other services you visit through a link have their own privacy and storage arrangements. These settings do not change those services, unsubscribe you from email or delete a business enquiry you have sent.
