A citation is a place to check
Learn to use a citation as a route to a source you can inspect.
A citation points to a source. It gives you somewhere to look, but it is not proof by itself.
Open the link. Find the passage the answer relies on. Does it actually say the same thing? Check who wrote it, when it was published and whether it applies to your question.
If the page is missing or does not support the claim, leave the claim out until you can verify it. Asking the same AI to repeat its answer is not an independent check.
What to check
Could you show someone the exact passage that supports the claim?
